Some of these posts will be food-related. Some will be crafty. Some will be, dangerous. I'll try to post them on the day of creation, but in the case of things like this, it would be hard. Not all will involve alcohol, but.. this one does.
Day 1: JELLO SHOTS.
My goal here was to use up a giant jug of vodka (inherited from a hungover friend, mending his ways, while contributing to the downfall of ours) that's been creeping around for months, peering at us from behind the oranges and Sun Chips, and make the nasty stuff drinkable (or eatable).
According to the internet, a basic vodka/jello recipe seemed to be one part water, one part vodka + Jello.
(To pave the way for inebriation as cheaply as possible, I filtered out all the recipes that used other, more fancy types of alcohol that required money. Mint? Never. Raspberry Schnapps? Pah. Who needs flavors?)
((I do love parentheses.) For a holiday themed party, spring for red and green jello! Who cares that green is a horrible flavor. It's CHRISTMAS.)
MIX:
1 Large pack Jello (Raspberry, Orange, and Fruit Punch)
2 C Vodka
2 C Boiling Water

(I mixed them in a mixer, this is not required)
Pour into tiny Dixie cups (so you can peel the wrapper off later - I was only informed of this after rather graphically digging the jello out of the bottom of a tiny Dixie Cup with my tongue. Ever the life of a party.)

Stick in the fridge overnight (or ~3 hours).
For ultimate party-time enjoyment (or if you're a Martha protegee), serve with whipped cream and festive sprinkles. (and hopefully, other people, you lush.)
Note: These came out way better than my last (first) attempt at this, which was to simply substitute the water in the Jello recipe with Everclear (190 proof? What?). The resulting runny, face-puckering mess, and the jello covered kitchen floor, streaked with the marks of dozens of sticky sneakers, has yet to be forgotten (or forgiven).
These were my tasty reparations for everyone who sampled the above batch of fail. Make 365- Paving the way to a better tomorrow.
