Anyway! Quick! Quick post, quick craft, while some slow baking banana bread bakes.. slowly. I could just post about banana bread, but I think I fudged it with too many walnuts, and banana bread can be kind of.. mundane. I suppose there must have been some amazing banana bread adventures somewhere, but none of them happened to me. Sigh.
Since I was too lazy to do anything exciting, todays idea came from Show Me How, a wonderful coffee table-sort of book with lots of infographics and even a boob or two.
Make 365: Day 5 - Record Bowls
NEED:
Record (One that you never want to play again. I used "Oklahoma" (where the wind comes right behind the rain))
Large oven-safe bowl
Heat up your oven. About 250 should do it. Put the bowl, upside-down on a pan. Balance a record on that upturned bowl (sort of like a hat). Stick it in the oven. Watch until it melts (about 10-15 minutes)

When it starts to look like something that would feel at home in a Dali painting, you can take it out.

You'll notice that even though it's pliable, it never gets really drippy or gummy. These things are pretty sturdy, and set quickly.
You can either leave it to dry as is, or stick a larger bowl on top to mold it a little better. I like the ribbony edges.

After just a couple minutes it's dry and you have.. um.. a bowl.

Duran Duran, ruined for future generations.
I wouldn't try to eat Trix out of it or anything, but you could probably put chips in it. Or fruit. People seem to enjoy a good fruit bowl.
You could probably flip it upside-down and string a light bulb through it to make a hanging lamp. If you're ever jonsing for a wibbly black lamp.
And since today was boring, an extra! (Which is sort of like the prize in a cracker-jack box. It's not really very good, but there it is anyway.)

Craft crafty craft.
(Hey look! I googled Dali Record, and got this guy's post about making melty records into melty clocks. It doesn't look functional, but I'm sure you could tweak it. Sweet!)
(!! And this girl on Etsy goes crazy on the record with the acrylics before she meltifys it. Finally, a fruit bowl worthy of coveting.)
